Magnesium Plus tablets

Magnesium Plus is a tablet containing magnesium oxide and magnesium gluconate, two sources of magnesium. It is used to treat hypomagnesemia and muscle cramps caused by magnesium depletion, and as an add-on during diuretic treatment or in severe burns.

Composition:

Each tablet contains:

• Magnesium oxide 400 mg
• Magnesium gluconate 100 mg

Properties:

Magnesium is the second most abundant intracellular cation. It is a cofactor in more than 300 enzymatic reactions.

Oral magnesium salts are used as a supplement in patients with magnesium deficiency caused by a restricted diet, alcoholism, drugs that deplete magnesium (such as diuretics), severe burns, or regular exercise with heavy sweating.

Magnesium oxide can also be used as an antacid or laxative. In water it converts to magnesium hydroxide, which reacts quickly with stomach acid and raises the gastric pH.

Indications:

• Adjuvant therapy during diuretic treatment and in severe burns
• Treatment of hypomagnesemia
• Muscle cramps caused by magnesium depletion
• Laxative for constipation, or bowel preparation before surgery or radiological, proctoscopic and sigmoidoscopic procedures
• Dyspepsia and heartburn

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in a dry place out of the reach of children.
