Atacand 4 mg tablets

It is used to treat arterial hypertension and heart failure, usually as additional therapy to ACE inhibitors or when those are not tolerated.

Composition:

Each tablet contains:

• Candesartan cilexetil 4 mg

Excipients: calcium carmellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, corn starch, macrogol.

Properties:

Atacand is an angiotensin II type 2 receptor antagonist and therefore an antihypertensive agent. It blocks angiotensin type 1 receptors, which suppresses the effects of angiotensin II (vasoconstriction, aldosterone synthesis and cell growth stimulation, regulation of water-salt balance).

Its blood pressure lowering effect comes from reduced peripheral vascular resistance without an increase in heart rate. It does not inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme and does not affect other receptors or ion channels.

Indications:

• Arterial hypertension
• Heart failure (as additional therapy to ACE inhibitors, or in cases of their intolerance)

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
