Ezapril 20 mg tablets

It is taken by mouth and must be used as prescribed.

Composition:

Each tablet contains:

• Enalapril maleate 20 mg

Excipients: sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous lactose, starch, magnesium stearate.

Properties:

Enalapril is an ACE inhibitor and a prodrug; in the body it is converted into the active metabolite enalaprilat. It blocks the conversion of angiotensin I into angiotensin II, which lowers vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion and increases the effect of bradykinin. As a result it reduces peripheral vascular resistance (afterload) and preload, increases cardiac output and exercise tolerance.

In chronic heart failure, long-term use improves exercise tolerance, reduces the severity of symptoms, slows progression and left ventricular dilatation, and reduces the risk of major ischemic events in left ventricular dysfunction.

Indications:

• Arterial hypertension (including renovascular hypertension), as part of combination therapy
• Essential hypertension
• Chronic heart failure, as part of combination therapy
• Prevention of clinically significant heart failure in patients with asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction (as part of combination therapy)
• Prevention of coronary ischemia in patients with left ventricular dysfunction, to reduce the incidence of myocardial infarction and hospitalization for unstable angina

Storage:

Store at a temperature not above 30 °C.

Packaging:

Pack sizes: 20 tablets and 30 tablets.

The 30-tablet pack is a cardboard box with 3 blisters of 10 tablets.
