Locasten 1% cream

Locasten 1% is an antifungal cream for external use that contains clotrimazole 200 mg per 20 g. It is used for fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes, such as foot mycoses, infections of the skin folds, nail fungus, ringworm and seborrheic dermatitis.

Composition:

Each 20 g of cream contains:

• clotrimazole 200 mg (1%).

Properties:

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal agent of the imidazole group. It works by disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the fungal cell membrane, which changes membrane permeability and leads to cell lysis. It is effective against dermatophytes, yeast-like and mould fungi, and the causative agents of pityriasis versicolor and erythrasma. It also has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria (staphylococci, streptococci) and some gram-negative bacteria (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis), and acts against Trichomonas vaginalis.

Indications:

• Fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, including foot mycoses (athlete's foot) and fungal infections of the skin folds.
• Nail fungus.
• Ringworm (lichen).
• Psoriasis.
• Seborrheic dermatitis.
• Relief of itching, irritation, redness, scaling and discomfort that can accompany these conditions.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a cool, dry place. Close the cap tightly after use.
