Properties:
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum antiprotozoal and anthelmintic drug, a benzimidazole carbamate derivative.
It disrupts glucose transport in the worm and inhibits beta-tubulin polymerization, which disturbs the microtubular apparatus of the helminth. This leads to the parasite's death and its elimination from the body.
It is active against intestinal worms and protozoa, and against tissue parasites such as Echinococcus granulosus and Echinococcus multilocularis.
It is effective at all developmental stages of roundworm and trichinella, with an efficiency of 95-100%.
