Ambezim-G tablets

Ambezim-G is a combination of two pancreatic proteolytic enzymes, trypsin and chymotrypsin, in enteric-coated tablets. It is used to reduce post-traumatic and post-operative swelling, exudate and local inflammation, and to limit fibrosis and adhesions. It is used as an adjunct in infective and traumatic conditions with a local inflammatory reaction.

Composition:

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Trypsin 5 mg
• Chymotrypsin 5 mg

(equivalent to 200,000 proteolytic units)

Coating excipients: methacrylic acid, macrogol, talc, titanium dioxide.

Properties:

Trypsin and chymotrypsin are pancreatic enzymes given in a form and dose that favour absorption from the intestine. They reduce inflammation and pain, help resolve oedema and exudate, and help antibacterial agents reach affected tissue. They also reduce capillary permeability and help limit fibrosis and adhesions.

The enteric coating protects the tablet from gastric juice. Absorption occurs in the small intestine; peak levels are reached in 4 to 8 hours. The enzymes are metabolised to amino acids and excreted by the kidneys.

Indications:

• Resorption of post-traumatic and post-operative oedema and exudate (including orthopaedic and dental surgery).
• Adjunctive therapy in localized inflammatory conditions such as phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, decubitus ulcers, infected wounds, sinusitis and otitis.
• Prevention of post-operative adhesions.
• Ocular trauma and intraocular haemorrhages.
• Episiotomy and perineal lacerations after delivery.
• Exudative conditions of the female genital organs with a tendency to fibrosis and adhesions.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children. Shelf life: 3 years.

Pack of 30 enteric-coated tablets: a carton containing 3 blister strips of 10 tablets, plus the leaflet.
