Diprosalic 0.05% + 3% ointment

Diprosalic ointment is a combination preparation for the skin that contains betamethasone, a corticosteroid, and salicylic acid. It reduces inflammation and itching and softens thickened, scaly skin. It is used for psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other hyperkeratotic or dry skin conditions that respond to corticosteroids.

Composition:

Each 1 g of ointment contains:

• Betamethasone dipropionate, equivalent to 0.5 mg betamethasone (0.64 mg betamethasone dipropionate)
• Salicylic acid 30 mg

Excipients: liquid paraffin (mineral oil), soft white paraffin (white petrolatum).

Properties:

Betamethasone is a highly active synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictor effects. Its effect lasts long enough for the ointment to be applied twice a day.

Salicylic acid has an antimicrobial effect. Through its keratolytic action it loosens the upper skin layers, making the deeper layers more accessible to betamethasone and increasing its absorption.

Indications:

Uninfected subacute and chronic hyperkeratotic and dry dermatoses that respond to corticosteroid therapy, such as:

• psoriasis
• chronic atopic dermatitis
• neurodermatitis (lichen simplex chronicus)
• lichen planus
• eczema (including nummular eczema, hand eczema, eczematous dermatitis)
• dyshidrosis
• seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp
• ichthyosis and other ichthyotic lesions

Storage:

Store below 30 °C, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
