Pepzol 40 mg capsules

Pepzol 40 mg capsules contain omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the production of stomach acid. It is used to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers, reflux esophagitis and other conditions with excess stomach acid.

Composition:

Each capsule contains omeprazole 40 mg.

Excipients: sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium hydrogen sulfate, calcium carbonate, talc, hypromellose, methacrylic acid copolymer.

Properties:

Omeprazole inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach and blocks the final stage of hydrochloric acid production, reducing basal and stimulated acid secretion.

It is a prodrug that converts into its active form in the acidic environment of the secretory canaliculi.

After a single oral dose, the effect starts within the first hour, lasts about 24 hours and peaks after about 2 hours.

Indications:

• Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, acute phase and relapse prevention, including ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori (as part of combination therapy)
• Reflux esophagitis, including erosive forms
• Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum caused by NSAIDs
• Stress ulcers
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions

Storage:

Store in a dry place at a temperature not above 25 °C.

Keep out of reach of children.
